What Is The CSDRG?
The Communication Sciences & Disorders Clinical Trials Research Group (CSDRG) is unique in that it was created in 1995 by and for speech-language pathologists, audiologists and speech, language and hearing scientists. Originally a program of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), CSDRG is now an independent, non-profit Illinois corporation. It comprises an interdisciplinary group of clinical investigators, clinicians and basic scientists who work collaboratively to design and implement large-scale clinical treatment studies in the areas of speech, language, learning, voice, swallowing, hearing and balance disorders.
The CSDRG’s Purpose
The purpose of the CSDRG is to advance the use of scientifically-based interventions for communication and swallowing disorders through clinical research in the understanding, evaluation, and treatment of speech, language, voice/swallowing, and hearing/balance disorders.
The Mission Of The CSDRG
- Identify promising interventions for communication disorders. A promising intervention is one for which there are published data suggesting treatment efficacy.
- Provide collaborative expertise during the:
- Design of clinical research;
- Identification of appropriate funding sources;
- Implementation of clinical trials; and,
- Dissemination of study results.
